My name is Booey Hottenstein. I started riding at age 8 with my father. Initially it was just a really fun way to spend time with the family. At age 11, I started training very seriously by (long rides, hill repeats, etc. with heart rate zones), and by age 12 had burned out. My parents were very wise, so they essentially forced me to stop riding. I played baseball for the next 4-5 years and came back to racing in 2010. Because of my time off, and because I am now old enough to handle more structured training, I am absolutely loving my time on the bike. Since the beginning of 2010, I have had two relatively successful seasons, and cycling has taken me to Belgium, Canada, and across the United States. Tim Redus, my director since le Tour de L’Abitibi in 2010, has been absolutely instrumental in my development as a bike racer, and the amount of experience I have gained through my experience with him and his Belgian racing trips is invaluable. I am working hard to take my fitness to another level for 2012, and I am am super excited to race with such a great team and group of guys this season.
